SAS Alumni Gathering in Chicago Celebrates Six Decades of Voyages

Earlier this month, more than 100 Semester at Sea alumni and friends gathered at the University Club of Chicago for a lively evening of reconnection and reflection. The event was generously hosted by Charlie Cooper (SP 99). “I had a wonderful time reuniting with SAS alums in Chicago. The bond we formed via a common experience across the past 60 years remains truly transformative,” Charlie said. “Celebrating our shared experiences as global citizens was a special moment. In a world marked by growing cultural interconnectedness, seeking perspective through immersion is invaluable.”

Alumni from every decade of SAS history were represented at the event, spanning from the 1967 voyage through the most recent Spring 2025 voyage! With such strong enthusiasm for our shared SAS experiences and community, there’s already growing momentum to possibly establish a Chicago alumni chapter: so, stay tuned for more updates from the Windy City!
