This course offers a transformative academic adventure that builds a solid foundation in psychological science and cultivates global awareness, critical thinking, and cultural sensitivity. It provides an introduction to human behavior and mental processes while navigating the diverse cultural landscapes of our world and our voyage. We will cover foundational psychological science concepts such as research methods, learning, memory, neuroscience, perception, cognition, emotion, personality, and mental health. In the process, you will learn to critically examine research findings and develop scientific thinking skills by evaluating various research papers and interpreting empirical evidence.
Our classroom extends beyond the ship as we travel to ports around the world. These experiences provide a unique opportunity to observe psychological principles in action across different cultures, enhancing our understanding of how societal and environmental factors influence behavior. Whether discussing the science of learning on deck or exploring cultural perspectives in bustling port cities, you will have the opportunity to integrate theory with real-world experiences.
Interactive lectures, engaging discussions, experiential learning, and hands-on assignments—including research projects, mini-writings, mini-outreach, and reflective papers—will allow you to apply psychological principles to personal growth and everyday life. This course is designed for inquisitive minds ready to explore both the inner workings of the human psyche and the surrounding world.
