ECON 235 Working With Data

Overview of Course

In today’s interconnected and rapidly advancing world, data shapes individual choices and drives decisions that impact communities, economies, and global challenges. This course equips students with essential data management and analysis skills. Using Excel as a versatile tool, students will explore how data informs issues such as sustainability and economic development across diverse regions. Students will learn to import and organize real-world data, create compelling visualizations, and analyze trends that matter. Whether constructing household budgets, designing dashboards, or forecasting outcomes, students will develop the ability to interpret and present data effectively in multiple contexts. By the end of the course, students will have skills and confidence in data management and visualization and a greater understanding of data’s pivotal role in addressing some of our most pressing challenges.
